Default Maximizing farming gain?

I remember reading a long time ago (as in Pre-Factions, Spirit Bond was god long ago) that when farming it's best to Expert Salvage every item you find and sell the material, as it will make a large increase in cash flow.

Does this still hold true? I know Expert Salvage kits are half as cheap nowadays thanks to Quartermasters, but material prices might have made significant drops since then (actually, I'm quite sure they have...).

Any of you experienced farmers have an opinion on this? Thanks.

sometimes yes, sometimes no. if you got a raven staff just id it and sell it (anything that can return wood/dust -cheap stuff). But canes, swords... steel is often worth the risk as an example. This in theory could change with the materials market, but its remained pretty fixed for a long time.

Salvage anything that is highly salvageable, save all of your wood and tanned hides. When you get 250 of each make them into parchment and leather then sell to trader for a good profit. If you are farming a whole zone then bring 1 ID kit and 2 superior salvage kits and salvage all the whites and blues (unless they are improved sale value), and merchant the purples and golds.

Now,

as this is about optimizing the win on farming, suggesting to go with two sup salvage kits is not that smart again.
As there is no basic difference between a sup kit and an expert kit, except for the amounts it can salvage individually, for farming you are better off with 10 expert kits then 2 superior kits, as the cost to buy them is exactly the same.
However, you get 125 uses for expert kits while only 100 on a sup kit.
So as we talk optimizing, go with 5 expert kits instead of one superior kit.

And, if you have a warrior, go and farm vermins, at the end of the run zone and trade vermin hides for salvage kits, those are free and can be well uses for salvaging not that valuable items to free space. Only use expert kits on items that are highly salvageable or have useful mods.
That way, money flows even better your way.

If you would ever be in a situation where you would need to take 2 superior salvage kits then it is because you will need to save all of the space you can, bringing more salvage kits takes the space up. You still need space for all of your purples, golds, and improved sale value items that you get.

I am fully aware of this, but again, the title of this thread clearly says: "Maximizing farming gain?"

So my words stand. The lower the costs, the better the profit. (Anyone hear a Ferengi speak?)

So, using a sup salvagekit = 20g pr. salvage.
Using an expert kit = 16g/salvage.

Again meaning, the less spent to salvage, the more the win.

And if it is a white you salvage without any "highly salvageable" to it, just use a regular salvage kit that you can get for free from a vermins run.

I'm fully aware of the fact that two sup salvage kits take 2 slots while 10 expert kits take 10 slots, but that was not the initial problem. If you go farm, set the build, clear the space and load the salvage kits, expert kits and ID kits, off you go on the long run. For short runs prepping for it is not that much needed.

But a solo charr run i.e. from Fort Ranik all the way east then north to flame temple corridor in the west, that takes time and takes space if you don't visit towns/outposts to unload stuff.

That is optimizing things, nothing else.

Profit FTW!

Keep 1 Exp Salv and 1 Exp ID in Storage for all characters.... saves you money and inv spaces, and you can just wait to clear out every time you hit town...

what do you do when u stay in uw/fow for a couple of hours and have more than 100 drops on your hands?

PS well 100 might be a bit wildly optimistic, still you get the idea

there is this new invention called collectors you guys should know about it... 5 imperial commendations/kournan coins/luxon totems/equipment requisitions/etc can be traded for a superior salvage kit in which case is by far superior to the expert salvage kit. who buys kits anyway when you're far enough in the game to trade them?
